Kangana says NO to obscene scenes

The Bhatt camp which gave Kangana Ranaut her first break in Gangster is naturally furious. Kangana has refused an offer from the "discovery" channel Bhatts although she has signed five new films of other banners.

Does that make Kangana another Mallika Sherawat, who after the resounding hit Murder, upped her nose and price, and dictated her terms to all who she could survey, including the Bhatts?

The Bhatts might think so, and true to type, might just give her the boot, as they did to Mallika and her booty. But Kangana says that the script demanded some obscene scenes which she did not want to do.

She pleads not guilty and reveals that she even requested the Bhatt brothers to change the scene, but they were adamant. The Bhatt camp then went into news overdrive and lashed out at Kangana for acting too pricey.

They cited examples of what she has already done -- bedroom and kissing scenes -- in her earlier films, and then questioned why she was acting goody-two-shoes now, especialy with her parent camp.

The truth is that most actyresses are willing to expose when they are new, most often they have no choice, but once they havce climbed up some rungs of the success ladder, feel the image is working against them getting good substantial roles and films.

Recent examples are of Priyanka Chopra in Andaaz and the following films and Neha Dhupia after her dare-bare roles, the most daring one being Julie. Both decided to put on the fig leaf after that and made anxious statements to that effect in the media.

Why fault poor Kangana? Producers, especially "parent camps", are known to exploit the "discovery" or new babe on the block and go sleazier and sleazier. Kangana herself has a valid answer to this.

The girl with a disintegrating personality (onscreen at least) has done sensationally well in her solo leads, Gangster and Woh Lamhe, and not so well, but appeared in the big league in Shakalaka Boom Boom and Life in a Metro.

"I was too young then to decide what was right or wrong," she has been quoted as having said.

"But now I have set my limits and will now do only such work which does not take away my peace of mind. I cannot do such things anymore."
